5 Things To Check Before Anything Else
1. Pump oilCheck the sight glass — fill to half level with SAE 10W-30 non-detergent oil. Low pump oil is a common cause of damage and noise.
2. Engine oilThe Honda GX390 has a low-oil alert that cuts the ignition. Check the dipstick before every start.
3. Water supply1–8 bar inlet pressure required. Use the 3/4" bore yellow supply hose — never kink it and never run the pump dry.
4. Fresh petrolStale fuel (over 30 days old) is the most common cause of starting failures. Drain and refill if in doubt.
5. Priming valveOpen the decompression/prime valve before starting and let water flow strongly for 10 seconds, then close it.
