A machine with no power could be a simple plug fuse or a serious internal fault. Unplug now and work through the checks below before further use.

Machine Has No Power

Your V-TUF Mammoth isn't switching on at all — no lights, no motor noise, nothing. This is usually one of three things: power supply problem, plug fuse blown, or a damaged cable. Work through the checks below in order — most cases are solved in the first two or three steps.

What's Happening

No power on a Mammoth means electricity isn't reaching the motors. Before you suspect the machine itself, rule out the simple things — most callouts for "no power" turn out to be one of these:

  • No power at the socket — circuit breaker tripped, RCD tripped, or the socket isn't switched on.
  • Blown plug fuse — the 13A fuse in the plug has gone. Easily replaced.
  • Damaged power cable — cut, crushed, or pulled apart internally. Often hidden inside the outer sheath.
  • Faulty plug or wiring at plug end — loose connection inside the plug after years of use.
  • Internal switch failure or wiring fault — rare, but possible. Needs our service team.
Most likely cause Blown plug fuse or no power at the socket. Always test these first before assuming the machine has failed.

How To Check It

  1. Confirm the machine is genuinely off — switch the main power switch off and on. On multi-motor Mammoths, check ALL motor switches are in the on position (a single off switch can look like no power).
  2. Test the socket with a known-good appliance. Plug a phone charger, lamp, or kettle into the same socket. If that doesn't work either, the problem is the socket / circuit, not the Mammoth. Reset any tripped breakers or RCDs at the consumer unit.
  3. Try a different socket on a different circuit. Bypass any extension leads. If the Mammoth works on a different socket, your original socket or extension is the fault.
  4. Check the plug fuse. Unplug the machine. Pop the fuse out of the plug top (small flat-head screwdriver). Hold it up to a light — if the wire inside is broken or the fuse looks scorched, replace with a new 13A fuse. Available from any hardware shop or supermarket.
  5. Inspect the power cable carefully. Run your hand along the full length. Look for cuts, kinks, crushing damage, or exposed inner wires. Pay attention to where the cable enters the plug and where it enters the machine — these flex points are common failure spots.
  6. Wiggle test at the plug end. With the plug in a working socket and the machine switched on, gently move the cable near the plug. If the machine flickers to life, you've found a loose connection inside the plug. Replace the plug (or have it done by an electrician).
  7. If steps 1-6 all check out and the machine still has no power, the fault is internal. Stop further checks and contact V-TUF service — the internal wiring, main switch, or motor terminals will need investigation. Do not attempt internal repairs yourself.
Safety note Never run the machine with a damaged cable, even briefly — exposed wires can cause electric shock or fire. Never bypass a blown fuse with foil, wire, or a higher-rated fuse — the 13A rating is there to protect the cable and you. If the plug is melted, cracked, or shows scorch marks, replace it before the next use. If you smell burning at any point, take the machine out of service immediately.

Parts & Service

This fault needs our service team

Plug fuses are a hardware-shop item, not a V-TUF spare part. Power cables, switches and internal wiring are service-fitted only — we don't sell these as self-fit parts because they're 240V / 110V components that need to be replaced safely. If steps 1-6 above haven't resolved it, our UK team will book the machine in.
