Tank Won't Drain
Your V-TUF Mammoth Stainless tank isn't emptying properly. This is usually a simple fix — most often it's the drain hose or plug, not the machine itself. Follow the steps below.
What's Happening
The Mammoth Stainless empties through a drain pipe on the side of the tank, sealed with a hand-tightened plug. When the tank won't drain, one of three things is normally happening:
- The drain hose has something lodged inside it — debris from wet pickup can settle in the bend.
- The drain plug has stuck in place or the seal has perished.
- The drain hose itself is split or damaged, letting air in and stopping the flow.
How To Fix It
- Switch all motors OFF. You can't run the vacuum while draining — it sucks air against the float and the tank won't empty.
- Move the machine to a drainage area or sink. Position it so the drain hose can hang down lower than the tank.
- Loosen the hand nut on the drain pipe (turn it anti-clockwise) and pull out the plug.
- Direct the hose into your disposal area and wait for the flow to start. Some liquid should start coming out immediately.
- If nothing comes out, blockage is likely. Disconnect the hose at the tank end and look through it — flush with clean water if needed.
- Check the rubber seal on the drain plug. If it's perished or torn, you'll need a new drain hose kit (VTVS9023).
- Refit the plug firmly when you're done. A loose drain plug kills suction on the next use.
