5 Things To Check Before Anything Else
1. Engine oilAll GB engines have a low-oil cut-out. Check the dipstick before every start. The Honda GX200/GX270/GX390 all require SAE 10W-30.
2. Pump oilHalf-level on the pump sight glass. Top up with V-TUF Pressure Lube PL500. Change after first 50 hours, then every 500 hours.
3. Water supplyGB machines feed from mains or an external tank. Confirm supply is on, pressure is adequate (min 1 Bar), and the inlet hose is not kinked.
4. Fresh petrolDrain and refill if over 30 days old. Stale petrol is the number one cause of starting failures and rough running on Honda engines.
5. Trigger before startSqueeze the gun trigger to release residual pressure in the system before pulling the recoil cord or pressing electric start (SSE models).
