Troubleshoot Your VTUFD10
Covers the VTUFD10 diesel range — D10-15200, D10-15200BXP (belt-driven pump), D10-21170 (gearbox pump, 21 L/min), and D5-DD13150 (5HP diesel, 13 L/min, 150 Bar). All share the same Yanmar diesel engine family and cold water pump ecosystem.
Common issues
Engine will not start
Check diesel fuel level. Check engine oil level — Yanmar engines have a low-oil cut-out. Confirm the decompressor lever (if fitted) is in the start position. Confirm the stop lever is in the run position. Cold starts may require the glow plug to be activated — hold the preheat switch for 10–15 seconds before pulling or pressing the starter.
Low pressure or no pressure
Confirm water supply: at least 1 Bar inlet and sufficient flow for your model. Rinse the inlet strainer. Bleed air from the pump by holding the trigger open for 30 seconds. Check the nozzle is not worn. If pressure still will not build, pump valves or unloader may be worn — book service.
Engine stops during use
Check fuel level and oil level. Allow to cool if it has been running hard. Check the air filter is clean.
Pump leaking from head
Stop immediately. Water or oil leaking from the pump head indicates worn seals — book a pump strip-down.
