Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing Cleaning Equipment — Bristol

Aerospace & advanced manufacturing — Bristol

V-TUF supplies production floor vacuums, composite dust extraction and hot-water degreasing systems to aerospace and advanced manufacturing businesses across Bristol and the West of England. Rolls-Royce at Filton manufactures wide-chord fan blades for the Trent engine family. GKN Aerospace at Filton and Avonmouth produces composite aerostructures for Airbus programmes. Leonardo manufactures helicopter systems at Yeovil, serving a substantial Bristol-area supply chain. The National Composites Centre at the Bristol & Bath Science Park and Safran Landing Systems at Filton round out one of the most technically demanding industrial cleaning environments in the UK.

V-TUF regularly supplies contractors and maintenance teams working across the Filton aerospace estate, Avonmouth industrial zone and the Bristol & Bath Science Park advanced manufacturing corridor.

Frequently asked questions

What vacuum is required for CFRP composite dust in aerospace manufacturing?

Carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) dust is classified as a hazardous substance under COSHH 2002. H-Class extraction is required — H14 HEPA at 99.995% filtration. The V-TUF MIDI H-Class (MIDIH110 / MIDIH240) is the correct specification. M-Class extraction is not sufficient for composite dust in sustained cutting or trimming operations.

Do I need ATEX-rated equipment for composite dust at my Bristol facility?

This depends on whether your facility has a DSEAR zone classification. Fine aluminium and carbon fibre dusts can be combustible in certain concentrations. If your DSEAR risk assessment has classified any area as Zone 20, 21 or 22, standard industrial vacuums cannot be used in those zones. Contact V-TUF on 01522 787978 to discuss ATEX options.

What pressure washer is best for degreasing aerospace components at Filton?

Hot water is required to effectively remove cutting oils, hydraulic fluids and manufacturing residues. For fixed facilities with three-phase supply, the RAPID VSC 415V (stainless, 150 bar, 15 L/min) is the standard specification. For mobile operations across the Filton and Avonmouth estates, the RAPID MSH 240V (diesel-fired boiler, 120 bar) provides independent hot-water capability.

Servicing, spares and ongoing support

All V-TUF pressure washers and industrial vacuums are supported with UK-based spare parts availability and full servicing support. Motors, pump components, HEPA filters and hoses are held for every machine in current production to minimise downtime across Bristol's aerospace and advanced manufacturing operations.
