V3240X2 Troubleshooting

Quick reference for diagnosing common problems with the V-TUF V3 Electric Pressure Washer (V3240X2) and the V3240X2 kit range. For step-by-step fixes, see the linked Fix Guides. Always disconnect the mains plug before any inspection or maintenance.

The machine won't start

  • No electrical voltage at the device. Check the fuse, power cable and power plug. Replace if damaged — have this done by a qualified electrician.
  • Voltage drop on an extension cable. Use a cable with adequate cross-section: 1.5 mm² up to 10 m, 2.5 mm² from 10–30 m. Fully unreel the cable from the drum. Standard household extension cables will cause the motor to burn out.
  • Mains voltage low. Contact your power supply company if your mains is consistently under spec.
  • RCD tripped. The V3240X2 must be operated via a 30 mA RCD. If it trips repeatedly, stop using the machine and call us.
  • Pump frozen. If the machine has been stored below 0 °C, the pump may be iced. Bring indoors, let it thaw fully before retrying. Frost damage is not covered by warranty — see the winterisation steps below.

Motor runs but no pressure builds up

  • Air in the water inlet. Check the supply hose and connections; replace if leaking air. Bleed the pump by running the gun with the trigger held open for 30–60 seconds before switching the machine on.
  • Discharge nozzle too large or worn. Check and replace if necessary (see Spare Parts).
  • Inlet filter blocked. Unscrew the inlet, lift the mesh filter, rinse and refit.

Weak or pulsing pressure

The most common V3240X2 complaint. Five-step diagnostic: Fix Guide: Weak or Pulsing Pressure.

Water sprays out around the nozzle, not from the tip

Almost always the SSQ coupling seal. Replace with B14.50PT — see Spare Parts.

Detergent not drawing from the tank

  • You must use the low-pressure (black) nozzle for detergent application. The high-pressure nozzles will not draw chemical.
  • Check the tank is filled with V-TUF chemical, not water.
  • Check the detergent pickup tube inside the tank is submerged and not kinked.

Machine leaks water at the pump when standing

A small drip from the pump is normal — the manual notes this is necessary to avoid damage when the pump is at standstill. A continuous flow or large puddle is not normal; call us.

Winterising your V3240X2

For storage below 0 °C or longer than 3 months:

  1. Disconnect the machine from the water supply hose
  2. Remove the high-pressure hose from the trigger gun
  3. Hold the trigger gun with the jet end at its highest point and squeeze to drain all remaining water
  4. Plug the machine in, switch on for 30 seconds to clear water from the pump
  5. Fill the pump with RV antifreeze or "pump saver" antifreeze (not windshield washer fluid — it damages the seals)

Frost damage is not covered by warranty.
