Cleaning & Dust Extraction for Wind Turbine Maintenance
Wind turbine maintenance — onshore and offshore — involves nacelle cleaning, gearbox and drivetrain servicing, blade inspection and repair, and tower internal cleaning. GFRP and CFRP blade repair generates hazardous composite dust requiring M-Class or H-Class extraction. Nacelle and hub cleaning requires confined space-rated extraction and pressure washing equipment rated for remote deployment without mains power.
Blade repair and composite maintenance
Wind turbine blades are manufactured from GFRP and increasingly CFRP. Leading edge erosion repair, delamination repair and blade tip replacement all involve grinding, sanding and cutting operations that generate respirable composite dust. Glass fibre dust WEL is 1 mg/m³ respirable under EH40 — M-Class extraction is the minimum compliant specification. CFRP repair requires H-Class.

Nacelle and hub cleaning
Nacelle interiors accumulate grease, oil mist, dust and contamination from gearbox and generator servicing. Confined space access, no mains power supply and working at height are the defining constraints of nacelle cleaning operations.
V-TUF XRR3500 — 35L wet/dry, 110V and 240V — nacelle general recovery
Compact enough for nacelle access, powerful enough for wet and dry recovery of gearbox oil contamination and general nacelle debris.

V-TUF TORRENT 1 — 7HP petrol, 190 Bar — tower base and foundation cleaning
Petrol-powered pressure washer for onshore tower base cleaning, transformer compound wash-down and wind farm access track maintenance where mains power is unavailable.
V-TUF tufREEL Stainless — retractable hose reel for tower deployment
Stainless steel retractable hose reel for tower-mounted pressure washing deployment — corrosion resistant for offshore and coastal onshore environments.
Offshore wind — additional considerations
Offshore wind turbine maintenance involves salt-air corrosion risk, marine certification requirements and EXW/international supply considerations for vessel-based maintenance operations. V-TUF stainless steel equipment and marine-specification accessories are the correct specification for offshore deployment.

Legislation that applies
COSHH Regulations 2002 — composite dust from blade repair is a COSHH-controlled substance. LEV extraction required at source.
HSE EH40 — glass fibre WEL 1 mg/m³ respirable. Carbon fibre treated precautionary H-Class.
PUWER 1998 — cleaning and extraction equipment is work equipment. Inspection and maintenance records required.
