V-TUF XRR6500 Troubleshooting

Wet & dry industrial vacuum — 2000W, 65L tank. Open the symptom that matches what your machine is doing.

What’s going wrong?

Won't switch onEasy

No power is reaching the motor — supply, lead, transformer or the on/off switch.

  1. Confirm the socket is live and the lead and plug are undamaged.
  2. On 110V, check the site transformer and its fuse.
  3. Check the on/off switch operates with a definite click.
  4. Inspect the 10m cable along its length for cuts or crushing.
Likely parts: On/off switchPower cable
Weak or no suctionModerate

Airflow is restricted between the nozzle and the motor.

  1. Empty the tank — suction drops sharply as the 65L tank fills.
  2. Clean or replace the filter (coned basket, sponge or cartridge).
  3. Detach the hose and steel tubes and clear any blockage.
  4. Check the hose and tubes seat firmly on the Ø40mm inlet.
Likely parts: Coned filter basketSponge filterCartridge filter
Not picking up waterEasy

The float shut-off has triggered, or a dry-only filter/bag is fitted.

  1. Empty the tank — the float cuts suction when it is full of liquid.
  2. Check the float/ball valve moves freely and isn't stuck up.
  3. Remove any paper or microfibre bag before wet pick-up.
  4. Fit a wet-suitable filter (sponge or coned basket).
Likely parts: Sponge filterConed filter basket
Blowing dust from exhaustModerate

Fine dust is passing the filter.

  1. Check a filter is actually fitted.
  2. Inspect the filter for holes, splits or a poor seal.
  3. Wash or replace the cartridge or sponge filter.
  4. For finer dust, fit a cartridge or HEPA cartridge filter.
Likely parts: Cartridge filterHEPA cartridge filterSponge filter
⚠ This is a wet & dry vacuum, not an M/H-Class dust extractor — do not use it for hazardous or COSHH-regulated dust.
Overheating / cutting outGet help

The motor is thermal-protecting, usually from restricted airflow or overload.

  1. Switch off and let the motor cool for 20–30 minutes.
  2. Clear any blockage in the hose, tubes and inlet.
  3. Clean or replace a clogged filter.
  4. If it keeps cutting out, stop and contact service.
⚠ Repeated thermal cut-outs indicate a fault — do not keep restarting. Contact the V-TUF service team.
Water leaking from bodyModerate

Liquid is escaping from the tank or lid area.

  1. Don't overfill — empty before the 65L tank is full.
  2. Check the lid latches down evenly and the seal is clean.
  3. Check the tank drain (where fitted) is fully closed.
  4. Make sure the float chamber isn't held open by debris.
Likely parts: Lid seal
Clogging / filling too fastEasy

The bag or filter is blinding quickly.

  1. Empty or replace the 25L collection bag.
  2. Tap out or wash the filter.
  3. Use the correct bag and filter for the material.
  4. Expect more frequent filter cleaning with very fine material.
Likely parts: Paper bagMicrofibre bagSponge filter

5 things to check before anything else

1Power & cableLead undamaged, plug and (on 110V) transformer sound.
2Filter fitted & cleanCorrect filter for wet or dry work, seated with a good seal.
3Tank not fullEmpty before it reaches capacity — a full tank kills suction.
4Hose & tubes clearNo blockages; seals tight on the Ø40mm inlet.
5Float moves freelyThe liquid cut-off must travel up and down without sticking.
