Distribution Warehouse & Logistics Facility Cleaning — Industrial Equipment

V-TUF supplies industrial vacuums, floor scrubbers, pressure washers and dust extraction equipment to distribution warehouses, logistics operators and 3PL facilities across the UK. V-TUF equipment is specified in warehouse and logistics environments because it is built to the continuous-use requirements of facilities that operate 24 hours a day — floor care, dust extraction and vehicle wash-down on a schedule that cannot tolerate machine downtime.

Warehouse cleaning applications

Warehouse floor cleaning and scrubbing

Distribution warehouse floors accumulate pallet debris, shrink wrap fragments, dust, spilled product and fork lift tyre marks continuously. Typical operations include nightly or weekly floor scrubbing with walk-behind or ride-on scrubber dryers, spot-cleaning of spills with wet and dry vacuums, and periodic deep cleaning of racking bases and loading dock areas. V-TUF's range of industrial scrubber dryers provides the floor coverage and solution capacity required for large-footprint warehouse operations.

Dust extraction — cable and electrical product distribution

Distribution warehouses handling cable, networking products, electrical components and similar goods generate specific dust profiles from cardboard packaging, cable insulation particles and fine particulate from cutting and preparation operations. M-Class dust extraction is appropriate for general warehouse dust. Where conductive material (carbon, metal particles, copper wire fragments) is present in the dust stream, extraction equipment specification must account for the conductive and potentially flammable nature of the collected material.

Loading bay and dock cleaning

Loading bays are the highest-traffic and highest-contamination areas of a distribution warehouse. Typical operations include daily pressure washing of dock levellers, loading bay aprons and dock doors, removal of diesel and hydraulic fluid spillage, and periodic deep cleaning of dock seals and weather stripping. All loading bay wash-down where water exits to external drains requires Environmental Permitting assessment — contaminated wash-water reaching surface water is a prosecutable offence.

HGV and fleet vehicle wash-down

Distribution operators with own-account fleets require on-site vehicle wash-down capability. Typical operations include cab and body exterior washing, under-chassis rinse, and refrigerated trailer interior cleaning. Trade effluent consent from the water company is required for all vehicle wash-down discharging to the public sewer. See: Transport and logistics hub

Warehouse and logistics compliance topics

  • Environmental Permitting — loading bay and vehicle wash-down — contaminated wash-water must not reach surface water drains. Trade effluent consent required for sewer discharge. Further reading: Environmental Permitting
  • COSHH — cleaning chemicals and dust — warehouse cleaning chemicals and dust from stored products are substances hazardous to health. COSHH assessment required for all cleaning products and where dust concentrations may exceed WELs. Further reading: COSHH Regulations 2002 | HSE EH40
  • PUWER 1998 — cleaning equipment as work equipment — all industrial vacuums, scrubber dryers and pressure washers used in warehouse operations are work equipment under PUWER. Further reading: PUWER 1998
  • Fire risk — dust accumulation — in warehouses storing combustible goods or packaging, accumulated dust presents a fire risk. Regular industrial vacuum cleaning of racking, sprinkler heads and structural members reduces this risk. M-Class extraction appropriate for most warehouse dust.

Warehouse cleaning equipment specification

  • Industrial wet and dry vacuums — for spill response, spot cleaning, racking cleaning and general warehouse maintenance. V-TUF's XR range provides the tank capacity and suction required for large-area warehouse use.
  • M-Class dust extractors — for dust extraction in warehouse picking and preparation areas where product dust or packaging dust is generated. See: M-Class extraction guidance
  • Floor scrubber dryers — walk-behind for medium warehouses, ride-on for large-footprint distribution facilities. V-TUF's tufSCRUB range covers both formats. See: Facilities management hub
  • Pressure washers for loading bays — 240V cold or hot water for loading dock and bay apron cleaning. 110V for internal use where electrical safety requires transformer-fed equipment.
