Aluminium & Non-Ferrous Metal Fabrication — Cleaning Equipment | V-TUF
Cleaning and dust extraction for aluminium and non-ferrous metal fabrication
V-TUF supplies industrial pressure washers, M-Class and H-Class dust extractors and wet/dry vacuums to aluminium fabricators, non-ferrous metalworking workshops, extrusion facilities, casting and machining operations, and aerospace and automotive component manufacturers across the UK.
Aluminium fabrication generates specific COSHH and process cleaning requirements that differ from ferrous metalwork — different dust hazard profiles, different surface preparation requirements for bonding and coating, and strict cleanliness standards for aerospace and structural applications.

Aluminium dust — COSHH requirements
Aluminium dust and aluminium oxide dust are COSHH-controlled substances with a Workplace Exposure Limit of 4 mg/m³ (respirable) and 10 mg/m³ (inhalable) under HSE EH40. Grinding, cutting, sanding and machining aluminium generates fine metallic dust that requires Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) to control exposure.
M-Class extraction is the minimum requirement for aluminium fabrication dust in most workshop settings. H-Class is required where finer particles are generated at sustained high rates, or where the COSHH assessment identifies a higher risk profile.

Aluminium dust fire and explosion risk — DSEAR
Fine aluminium dust is combustible and at sufficient concentrations can be explosive. DSEAR 2002 may apply in facilities generating fine aluminium dust at volume. Confirm with your DSEAR assessor before specifying extraction equipment in high-dust aluminium operations.

Pressure washing for aluminium fabrication
Component wash-down, jig and fixture cleaning, and workshop floor cleaning typically require cold water at 100–200 bar for light contamination. Where cutting fluids and lubricants are involved, hot water is required to emulsify the contamination effectively.
